Breaking Up is Fun to Do!
So I've been thinking about breaking up with facebook for a while now. Its not that I don't love being socially connected and all of that but often times it makes me feel depressed, because my college situation is less than hollywood perfect right now. I do not belong to a sorority or get invited to wild college parties, although one time I was invited to a mixer! ha Okay so that crap about partying in college is pretty much all false especially in my life. Anyways the point is I log onto a world filled with my friends and their extremely attractive boyfriends, new roommates and far off adventures and I just feel a little left out. It may say that I have 200 and something friends but in reality my only true friends I talk to most days and I don't have to look at a virtual profile to see if they are engaged/dating/ or enjoying their college experience. Its just that all my life consists of right now is work and family which doesn't really require a social network to update. So I'm taking a break from facebook and I think we are just going to be friends for a while. Hopefully when I get back on I have something better to report for my status other than I hate the weather....or I am bored/tired/hungry. PS My fingers are healing I was able to take notes in class today with little discomfort!

I hate HOT GLUE GUNS
For the longest time I've had the worst fear of ovens, curling irons, hot glue guns, candles etc. I hope you can see the correlation here. Basically anything that is hot and/or can burn you I hate. For the last few years I have tried to overcome this fear by beginning to take things out of the oven and attempting craft projects that require using liquid molten glue, but today was the last and final craft that I will be using the hot torture gun. I would stop using the oven but I see that more of a necessity to life. Anyways I am probably the reason why they come with warning on the tag, because improper use of the gun will lead to extreme burns and pain trust me. We had ran out of glue and decided to use a wooden skewer to force the last drops of glue out. It worked fine for about thirty seconds but soon after the glue spilled out of the back of the gun covering two of my fingers. While many expletives ran through my head I darted to the sink and ran cold water over my blistering fingers. I had a horrible idea to remove the glue which then peeled a few layers of skin off of them. OUCH! Lucky for me my cute sister attended to me bringing over a bag of ice and sponge-bob band-aids. Currently I am sporting 4 of them and my second bag of ice. I typed this whole entry with my left hand, and am starting to worry that my new injury will hold me back in school. Anyways the point of this entry is that from now on I am reverting back to my old ways and shying away from anything hot hopefully it will remind me of that! And sorry I won't be posting pictures of my murdered hands, I am afraid it might make someone nauseous!

Where does all the time go?
For the next two days I am in a huge time crunch! I have my chemistry midterm on Friday which covers about 3 chapters that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. So needless to say the one thing I shouldn't be doing today is blogging/wasting my precious time, but when I got home from school I was in the middle of a migraine so I thought if just laid down for an hour I would be able to study more efficiently. Well its now 4:02 and I arrived home to my bed 3 hours prior. Unfortunately the headache remains and 3 hours have been successfully wasted! BUT on the bright side its MIDTERMS and that means 1/2 of the semester is OVER!

Growing up
Today at a friends and family dinner I learned a wonderful lesson that I hope to remember for the rest of my life. We had been playing catch phrase and 7 year old Emmy was quite frustrated with not being as good at the game as the other 10 adults in the room. She had resorted to bringing her teammates snacks instead of playing. After the game dispersed she wandered over to me and sat on my lap. She looked up at me and the conversation went as follows:
Emmy: Its not fair why am I not as good at games as everybody else?
Me: Its cause you're still pretty little but give it a few years and I bet you will be just as good as everybody else.
Emmy: Its not fair I want to be big now! I want to be grown up!
Me: Hey I'm big what do you think about trading places? You can go to college for me and I'll go to your school? Then you can be all grown up just like me
Emmy: How old are you?
Me: 19
Emmy: Okay...one second....let me go ask my mom!
Emmy then ran off to ask her mom if we could trade places. I sat laughing because I expected her to immediately answer something like "Oh don't be silly" but still the same I was rather pleased with what my teasing had conjured up but in just a few seconds she can came running back looking rather gloomy
Emmy: We can't trade places; you can't be older than 16 to ride in the car pool and go to my school.
Me: Well I guess we both just have to enjoy growing up the long way then huh?
As I drove home from the party I kept replaying the story over and over in my head it was funny, but it really had taught me something. I know that some days I think about how much easier/funner life would be if I was 3 years older and out of school OR if I were married and not spending Saturday night alone doing my laundry OR wishing I weren't single OR simply wishing this semester would be over already. But that's not the cards I've been dealt for this period in time. The truth is that no matter where we are in life, we need to enjoy the journey. I haven't done this best with this lately (I blame the cold weather), but I realized how selfish of me it was to wish I could just jump a few steps ahead and cheat myself these valuable lessons in life. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and I need to be willing to walk each step of the way. Besides everywhere you go the grass is all sorts of shades of green and isn't that worth CELEBRATING?
We can SELL anything
I admit that I do not own a snuggie nor does anyone else in my household. In one of our strange strikes against conformity we pledged to use our square boring blankets until the end of time. Some claim its really just out of practicality and frugality but I'll let you decide. Although, I must admit I did slip off the bandwagon for a minute in college when I dawned a cheetah snuggie. I've never been so tempted to shed my allegiance to the square blankie thus far. In all seriousness, I wish that it had been my idea to invent a long backwards bathroom robe and sell it for twenty dollars a piece. So today when I discovered the couples snuggie I realized we really can sell practically anything! Its gotta be what makes America so great. So now if you find yourself in the situation when you need to lounge, use your hands and hold your loved ones hand at the same time I have the right product for you....its a 3 armed snuggie! Perhaps this will become my new staple wedding gift for when I know the couple has virtually everything because I can almost guarantee they won't have one of these babies.

Rose count
Well folks its Valentines day and my rose count is 1. Which was 1 more than what I was expecting. I'm not so sure why the Institute of Religion thought it would be a good idea, but they were giving out roses today to all the girls at the local University. Stapled to the stem was the slogan "Remember you are loved". Everyone knows Valentines day maybe a little hard when you are single BUT it doesn't mean I'm not loved or that I planned on getting depressed and experiencing death by chocolate. If I were a normal girl I probably would have been flattered by the token. Instead....I'm ME, and felt slightly insulted by the off pink budding jesture. I realize that I am 19 single and very out of love, but I know that I am LOVED! Valentines day is not all about having boyfriends/husbands/mistresses its about the people you love. Its about love for your friends, parents, siblings, and even grandparents. I am one of the most blessed kids out there to have so many to love and receive so much love. So my insulting flower lies dead wilted in my car because I have known all along that I am loved and I don't need any amount of holiday paraphernalia to prove it.

My GaGas
Lady Gaga
Who is super crazy and wears funky glasses.....? The answer to this question is indeed Lady Gaga and believe it or not myself! Recently I've joined the gang of popular people that chose to wear distasteful eye wear and I am extremely proud of it. I got these babies for a steal at $16.00 at the bookstore....Okay so it wasn't a steal......but for the next 11 weeks I'll be rockin' the Gagas! Heck YES!!! I always need an excuse to publicly humiliate myself.
MY GAGA'S
And just because I'm in such a great mood here is a picture of myself rockin' the Gaga's. This just might be my first and best Lady Gaga pose ever.

The prettiest candy at the candyland ball
So if you didn't already know this, my favorite grocery store is WINCO. If you haven't been there I'd highly recommend it because the savings are amazing and blah blah blah but why you really want to go there is for their wide selection of bulk candy. They actually let you measure out how much candy you would like to buy from a large barrel weigh it and pay. Its pretty much as close to a candy store as you can find in local O-town. Today I discovered one of the prettiest candies in the world. I felt pretty deprived to not know of its existence until this fateful afternoon. If you haven't guessed from the picture, the candy was giant gummi butterflies. Imagine my excitement as I filled a bag full of them and paid. What a prize at 55 cents I was feeling like I had won something. I couldn't even wait till I got to my car to begin eating them. I took a large bite that severed one of the wings from the palm sized gummi. I tasted chewed and swallowed only to find the candy completely flawed. Imagine a gummi bear 100 times its size but with only 1/3 of the flavor. YUM right???? NOPE! The remainder of the candies remain on the passenger seat of my car. I suppose I'll just have to look at them maybe they can keep my company for the remaining 12 weeks of my commute.

Let them eat cake!
This weekend I tried my hand at marshmallow fondant and made my little sisters 11th birthday cake. It was a lot of work but it turned out pretty cute in my opinion. The inside was hot pink and orange. I think they all really liked it so I think it was a successful day for me! If you want to try to make the fondant here is a link for the recipe. http://whatscookingamerica.
