20 on the 20

This year if you didn't know I turned 20 on the 20 making it my golden birthday.  If I could describe my day in one word I'd use fabulous.  I got to go to Market Street and have their fish and chips and I highly recommend it. It's probably my favorite more fancy restaurant in Utah and it makes you think you are on the East coast for a few hours which is muy bueno in my books.  Sadly I'm the worst for taking pictures so you'll just have to imagine that I'm in there having my birthday lunch.  I got to blow out 20 candles on a red velvet cake and it was de-lish!  Also I don't have a picture, but imagine a small bonfire on top of this cake
The Sunday before my birthday we had an All's Yall September birthday's party which was also fabulous but luckily enough I did take a few pictures.  In September Me, My older sister, My dad and my Grandpa all have birthdays.  Here some pics of our festivities enjoy!

I made this banner for the Cake I was so proud because I'm not much of a scrapbooker

Broken Lab Equipment

If you haven't heard this story from me personally well ask because its seriously worth it and much funnier in person.  So you see when I went to the saftely lab for my chemistry class last week I had a pretty good idea on who I wanted to be my partner, but I wasn't so sure on how things were going to shake out so I held back and missed my oppurtunity.  Conversation was flowing really well between me and potential partner and I was thinking that I had my hooks into him.  That I was not going to be stuck with some crappy partner.  Well I did because easy dropper Louie snatched him up.  Can you believe that they served in the SAME mission yet missed each other by inch so never met,YET that small bond was great enough to throw me on the street partnerless.  Anyways today was my 2nd lab. While trying to avoid a girl that I do not like, I ended up with a stranger for a lab partner.  I started out with a good attitude, he wasn't the partner I wanted but we could be okay.  That wasn't the case.  He was one of those guys that's a little too in touch with their femine side for my liking, but that wasn't as much of a problem as the fact that he was a hugger. He has no sense of personal space/ my bubble.  My bubble is kind of a big deal, don't get any closer than about 1.5 feet of me and we can be friends; any closer and I'm freaking out.  My partner continued to rub my back and hover about 1 inch over me.  I was NOT a happy girl.  It was making me so uncomfortable it felt like every single move of mine was shakey and insecure.  I got the nervous sweats and my lab goggles literally fogged up.  Well as luck would have it my elbow knocked someting off of the table which then landed into the sink and shattered.  I had to take the walk of shame up to the instructor and inform him that I had broken the 10 mL graduated cylinder.  I swear normally I'm not too accident prone, but today I felt like I had a giant L stamped to my forhead.  I get to wait and see exactly how much the cylinder costs and pay my embarrassing debts.  At the end of the day I'm just mad I had an accident but I'll try harder to be more careful from now on.  Hopefully lab is all up hill from here and I don't break anything else.

***Just to note I do plan on posting some birthday pics its just going to take a while because I'm super swamped with school!

Expectations Verses Reality

So many time in my life I get the opportunity to look back and compare how I expected things to go and how they actually turned out.  On Tuesday I will be 20, I can't believe I'm getting that old but life just keeps getting better with age.  I've thought a lot about what I thought my life would be like at this age and so many things are so much sweeter than I could have ever planned for myself.  In a few cases things have been harder and rockier than I would have imagined as well.  I never would have thought I'd be completing my associates degree at the University I'm at or that I'd still be living at home, but I'm happy exactly where I'm at.  When I was 16 I thought that perhaps I'd have a hunky boyfriend at my 20th birthday party, but the truth is I'm so happy things are turning out the way they are.  I'm so humbled to have had as many amazing experiences that I've had and I look forward to many more. So here is to 20 amazing year on this earth and to several more!

Coincidence? I think not

Remember how I love word of the day? Well guess what the word of today was today? I found it quite funny and motivating. It also goes along with one of my favorite grey's anatomy Meradith quotes.

"A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying."

An open letter to Elizabeth Bennett

Dearest Lizzy,
Can I just say I get you? You've been my fictional hero for sometime now, but just in the last few years have I even begun to understand the power of your literature.  Every time I turn to pages of your book I see you in me; in many ways our stories cross and I can relate to your heartaches, triumphs, and dreams.  You have reached so many women's lives and shaped them with your witty view of the world.  You inspire me to continue my search for love even when the world around me seems to make little sense.  I haven't met my Darcy yet but you give me hope for a beautiful future.
Sincerely,
An avid fan
